The short version
Househand keeps your household records on your own devices and in your own iCloud account. Domum Digital cannot see them. There are no accounts in the app, no tracking, and no analytics of any kind.
Two things leave your device, and only two:
- A barcode number, when you choose to scan one, so we can look up what the product is.
- Your App Store purchase, so we know whether your subscription is active.
Neither one carries your name, your home, or anything you have documented.
Our website — where this policy lives — uses Google Analytics, like most websites. The app never does. The details of both are below.
No account, ever
Househand has no sign-up, no login, and no password. We never ask for your name, your email address, or your phone number. Because there is no account, there is nothing for us to hold.
Where your household lives
Everything you document — your Gear, Supplies, Properties, Spaces, photos, scanned documents, service history, notes, tags, vendors and contacts — is stored on your devices, and in your own iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled for Househand or iCloud device backups turned on.
Your iCloud is yours. It is governed by your agreement with Apple, not by us. Domum Digital has no access to it and no ability to read what is in it. We could not hand your household over to anyone even if we were asked to, because we do not have it.
Sharing a Property with someone
If you share a Property with another person, that sharing happens entirely through Apple's iCloud sharing — the same mechanism as a shared note or a shared album. The person you invite sees the Property you shared with them and nothing else. We are not in the middle of it.
When people share a Property, Apple can show each participant the others' names, so edits can say who made them. Househand only ever displays those names in the moment, from Apple: it never stores a participant's name, email, or contact details — not on the device, not in iCloud, not anywhere. What it keeps is an opaque identifier Apple provides, which is meaningless outside your share.
Barcode scanning — the one thing we look up
When you scan a barcode to add something, Househand sends that barcode number to a third-party product-lookup service, so it can tell us the brand and model of the product.
What we send: the number printed on the package (a UPC, EAN, GTIN or ISBN), inside an ordinary internet request. Like any internet request, that carries your device's IP address and a fixed app name, and the service uses the address to count how many lookups a day it answers. The request is not tied to any account, and Househand has none.
What we do not send: your name, your email, your location, your iCloud identity, the name of your home, the Space it is in, your photos, your documents, or anything else you have documented. The lookup service is told a number and nothing more about you.
This only happens when you scan. If you never use the barcode scanner, nothing ever leaves your device for this purpose.
If the lookup finds nothing, Househand keeps the number on your record anyway so you can search for it later. Nothing is retried in the background. The running count of lookups you see in the app's About screen is kept on your device and goes nowhere.
Your camera and photos
Househand uses your camera to photograph your things, to scan documents, and to read barcodes. It can also read photos you choose from your photo library — only the ones you pick, through Apple's photo picker, which never gives the app your whole library.
Images are processed on your device. Text recognition and barcode reading use Apple's own on-device frameworks. Your photographs are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Househand does not ask for your location, your contacts, or your microphone. It has no use for them.
Subscriptions and payment
Househand is a paid app with a free trial. Payment is handled by Apple. We never see your credit card, your billing address, or your Apple Account.
We use RevenueCat to keep track of whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your App Store transaction and an anonymous identifier it generates for itself. It does not receive your name, your email, or anything you have documented in the app.
Reminders
Service reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your device by your device. There is no notification server, and no reminder you set is visible to us.
No analytics in the app. No tracking. No advertising.
The Househand app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no tracking of any kind. We do not measure what screens you open, what you document, or how often you use the app. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell, rent or share data with anyone, because we do not have any to sell. (Our website is the one place we use an analytics tool — see "Our website" below.)
Security
Your records are protected by the protections your device and your iCloud account already give them: your passcode or Face ID, and Apple's encryption of iCloud data in transit and at rest. The barcode lookup travels over an encrypted connection.
Some of that protection is in your hands. Your device passcode is yours to keep confidential, and a device with no passcode protects nothing. If your device is lost or destroyed and you did not have iCloud sync or backups on, your records may not be recoverable — Househand keeps no copy that could restore them.
No system is beyond every failure, but Househand's design limits what a failure could expose: the only copy of your household is the one you control.
Taking your household with you
Househand can export everything you have documented to a file you control. Export is never restricted — not when your trial ends, not when a subscription lapses, not ever. Your records are yours, and you can take them out at any time.
Deleting your data
Delete the app and its data goes with it. To remove what is stored in iCloud, use the iCloud settings on your device. Because we never had a copy, there is nothing for you to ask us to delete — but if you have a question about it, write to us at the address below.
When you email us
If you write to househand@domumdigital.com, we receive what any email carries: your address and what you wrote. We keep the exchange so we can answer you and fix what you reported, and for no other purpose. We will never add you to a marketing list because you asked a question — there is no marketing list. Email in transit is only as secure as email is, so please don't put anything in a message you would not want to travel that way.
If we are helping you troubleshoot and you choose to send us an export of your records, we use it only to solve your problem and delete our copy when it is solved — or sooner, the moment you ask.
Your rights, wherever you live
Privacy laws such as Europe's GDPR, the UK GDPR, and U.S. state privacy laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights over personal information a company holds about you: to see it, correct it, delete it, take it with you, and object to its sale or sharing.
Househand's answer to each is the same, and it is structural: we do not hold personal information about you. Everything the law would let you demand from us is already in your hands — you can read it in the app, correct it in the app, export all of it at any time, and delete it from your own devices and iCloud. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as any U.S. state privacy law defines those words, and we never have.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis for the two transmissions the app makes is the performance of the service you ask for: you request the scan, and you purchase the subscription. If you believe we hold something about you — for example, an email you once sent to support — write to us and we will show you, correct it, or delete it. If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International users
Domum Digital LLC is a United States company, and email you send us is handled in the United States. Your household records are different: they live on your devices and in your iCloud account, in whatever region your agreement with Apple provides — we do not move them anywhere, because we do not have them. A barcode number you scan is answered by a lookup service that may process the request in the United States. By using Househand you consent to this handling, as this policy describes it.
If Domum Digital is ever sold
A company can be bought, and personal information a company holds is usually part of the deal. Here is what that would mean for Househand: your household could not be part of any deal, because we do not have it. The most a buyer could receive is what this policy already describes — the support emails people have sent us — and this policy would bind that buyer until they published a new one, effective only going forward and announced as described under "Changes" below.
Children
Househand is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children under 13. There is nothing to collect. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to us and we will delete it.
Our website
The page this policy lives on, at domumdigital.com, uses Google Analytics, which uses cookies, so we can see how the site is used — pages visited, and roughly where visitors come from. That is a website tool: it is not in the app, and it never sees anything you document. Google's handling of that data is described in Google's own privacy policy, and you can block analytics cookies in your browser or with Google's opt-out tool (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy policies.
The other policies that touch you
Three companies handle something for a Househand user, each under its own policy:
- Apple — your iCloud storage, sharing, and App Store payment: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- RevenueCat — the subscription check: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Google — analytics on our website only: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Changes to this policy
If Househand ever changes what leaves your device, this policy will be updated before that change ships, and the effective date at the top will change with it. Meaningful changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Using Househand, or this website, means the current version of this policy applies to you.
